Machu Picchu located on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley in Peru.  It is located 2430 metres above sea level.  The city sits in a saddle between two mountains, with a commanding view down two valleys and a nearly impassable mountain at its back.  Machu Picchu is one of the most familiar symbols of the Inca Empire.  It is referred to as ‘The Lost of the Incas’.  Machu Picchu given meaning of “Old Peak” in the Quechua language.  It is erecting by many hundred of stone structure from 1400’s.  Machu Picchu is the sacred place from a far earlier time.  Whatever its origins, the Inca turned the site into a small (5 square miles) but extraordinary city. Invisible from below and completely self-contained, surrounded by agricultural terraces sufficient to feed the population, and watered by natural springs.  It has a water supply from springs that cannot be blocked easily, and enough land to grow food for about four times as many people as ever lived there. The space is composed of 140 structures or features, includes palaces, baths, storage room, temples and some 150 houses. The central of Machu Picchu use the Inca architectural style of polished dry-stone walls of regular shape.  Some of the buildings are constructed using mortar.  As part of their road system, the Inca built a road to the Machu Picchu region. Today, tens of thousands of tourists walk the Inca Trail to visit Machu Picchu each year.  In late 1990 Peruvian government allow the construction of a cable car, luxury hotel, tourist complex, boutiques and restaurant.
